Proposal of New Construction Material: Polymer-Stabilized Gold Ore Tailings Composite

Recent events involving the rupture of tailings dams in Brazil have motivated search for alternatives to incorporate material into production chain. At same time, consumption raw materials by civil construction sector is high, requiring incorporation alternative achieve sustainable development. Thus, this paper proposes a new based on mechanical and microstructural behavior polymer-stabilized fiber-reinforced gold ore composites. Unconfined Compressive Strength tests were performed different polymer contents (6% 9%), dry unit weights (1.7 g/cm³ 1.8 g/cm³), curing periods (7 28 days), according 2K Experimental Design. Microstructural using X-ray Diffraction, Fluorescence Spectrometry, Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Micro-Computed Tomography. The results demonstrate that adding increased tailings’ behaviors forming packages with lamellar particle, which was observed tests. polymeric composites’ brittle improved fiber insertion, leading an increase strain energy absorption capacity. composites demonstrated its potential as material, especially landfill structures, stockpiles, paving base layers. association analysis established understanding effect stabilizer reinforcement.
